Palanas By The Sea Experience

So how's summertime here in Cebu? Temperature's ranging up to 30 something degree Celsius, just like how our electricity bill is skyrocketing due to the heavy use of air conditioner.

Plans of summer getaways are here and there. Now my college buddies were looking forward to do a staycation in the southern part of Cebu, specifically in Boljoon. To be honest, I'm not that impressed with their idea at first. There's a lot of swimming pools near our place and we could just stay overnight if we want, like is it worth the 4-hour bus ride just for a swimming pool and a one night stay at the place? But anyways, I gave it a go since I wasn't able to be with them during their Bacolod trip because I need to attend the Coldplay concert in Manila.

Now let's talk about the place we chose: PALANAS BY THE SEA

Rooms in this unit can accommodate 8-12 persons (depending on the type of room reserved)

Weeks before our stay (which was on June 2 and 3), we made an online reservation on their website. We decide on the Albatross room, which could accommodate 5 people. Amenities include A/C, shower and bath, a cable ready TV, and a fridge. Rule is you need to pay 50% down payment 5 days before your stay and is to be deposited on their BPI account. They have no corkage fees for foods so you're free to bring some, however they do charge for alcoholic beverages. Check in time is 2PM while check out time is 12NN.

The dining area

Now the thing is, we haven't planned on what foods to bring since we're so much busy on packing up our OOTDs, lol! Good thing is the Boljoon public market's nearby, with various carenderias around the area. What we did is we just bought a kilo of rice to be cooked at the place (Palanas allowed us to borrow their rice pot so that we could cook our rice, free of charge!) and bought cooked foods from the carenderia, since we're short of time to do some grillin'.

"Palanas By The Sea exceeded my expectation"

Upon arriving at the place, I was so dead tired because of the long travel, but our room provided us a cozy environment, that I had to get some power nap, well, which turned out to be a 2-hour sleep. I was also grateful to see an electric kettle, which means I could have a sip of coffee. They have a very spacious bathroom! We had a change of outfit and headed towards their swimming pool. They have 3, one for kids and two for adults (I could be wrong but according to my estimation, it's around 6 ft). And yeah, the pools are filled with seawater! No worries with chlorine-infused water xD.

In case you're wondering, the pool behind them isn't filled with seawater yet because the pool they're in needs to be full, and will later on overflow to the kiddie one

With a view like this, you'll be floating with happiness! (corny, haha)

You heard me, before I wasn't impressed with our getaway plan. But I was wrong. The view! The.View.Is.To.Die.For. If you're looking for a place to escape the stress of city life, then this is the one! You can either swim in the pool or at the beach. The downside for the latter is the wave is too strong that you might be smashed into the rocks. But I tell you, you'll definitely be tempted to take a dip because the clear waters are so inviting. I suggest you bring your snorkeling gears to double the fun!

When the pool is by the sea and the sea is in the pool. (The flooring somehow reminds me of a Japanese onsen)

The place also awakens the photographer in you! You could get some wonderful shots in various angles. You'll also be thrilled to pose for pictures, with the great view behind you, why not? They have the dining area with the hanging flowers, the chairs that would illuminate at night, blogger wall where you can do dramatic poses depending on your preference, and of course the big letters spelling out the name of the place! (These photos were taken from my phone by the way, all are raw and unfiltered, just like my apple cider vinegar).

Waves go crashing, making it difficult for us to go swimming at the sea

This is definitely one of my most memorable summer getaway experience in 2017 and I'm looking forward to staying in this place again. You may visit their website for more information about the rooms and rates, their contact details and for online reservations: https://www.palanasbythesea.com/
